The finish is right. Here’s how to keep it that way.
Paint correction removes swirls and defects. What puts them back is the way a car gets washed. A few habits keep that freshly corrected look for years.
Never use an automatic brush car wash.
Do
- ✓Two-bucket hand wash: one for soap, one for rinsing the mitt. Grit rinses out instead of going back on the paint.
- ✓Use pH-neutral soap, a clean microfiber mitt and a separate mitt for wheels and lower panels.
- ✓Dry with a plush microfiber drying towel or a blower. Pat, don’t scrub.
- ✓Treat bird droppings, bugs and sap the same day. They etch fast in Florida heat.
- ✓Wash in the shade, on cool panels. Interior: vacuum regularly and use a UV protectant on dash and leather.
Don’t
- ✕Don’t use automatic brush washes. One pass can undo a full correction.
- ✕Don’t use dish soap, old bath towels or a dirty sponge. All three scratch.
- ✕Don’t wipe a dusty car dry. Rinse first, always.
- ✕Don’t use gas-station squeegees on paint or on film.
Protect what we corrected
Corrected paint is the ideal surface for a ceramic coating or paint protection film. If you’re thinking about either, now is the best time, before new swirls appear. Ask us for a quote.
